Janette Sneddon Wright (née Robertson) January 1935 - February 2024
It is with great sadness that we share the news of the recent death of Janette Wright (Aboyne).
Our sincere sympathy goes out to all her family.
Janette hailed from Glasgow, representing Lenzie Golf Club in
her early years. After her
marriage she moved to Aboyne and was part of the highly
talented Wright golfing family.
Many will remember her friendly face greeting you in the
professional’s shop at
Aboyne Golf Club where her husband, Innes, was the
Professional.
Janette was a keynote speaker at our ALCGA Centenary Lunch in
2011. She charmed
everyone with her amazing stories from a bygone age when air
travel was in its infancy and
destinations were reached by sea, sometimes taking many
weeks.
She was a most gracious lady, modest, unassuming, popular
with everyone. She will be
greatly missed by us all and remembered with great affection.
Janette had an incredible amateur golfing career, including 3
consecutive victories in the Scottish Ladies’ Championship from 1959-1961.
