Scottish Women’s
Amateur Tour (S.W.A.T.)
For Women & Girls with a handicap of 36 or
better
Alan Tait, PGA “Specialist” Scottish
Golf Professional, was dismayed and
surprised at how few competitive opportunities there were for women & girls
in Scotland.
He therefore decided to set
up an Amateur Women’s Golf Tour (S.W.A.T.) for women & girls with a
handicap of 36 or better.
He
has lined up 9 x 36 hole events at some great venues in Scotland.
The
leading 6 scratch players from the order of merit and the leading 6 players
from the nett OOM, playing in an end of season Grand Final at Cabot Highlands
Castle Stuart in September.
All events are £65 entry for the 36 holes which I'm sure you'll agree is great value given the quality of the courses. The players can play in as few or as many events as they wish.
Details of how to register and enter events can be viewed
at
https://www.alantaitgolf.co.uk/swattour
Alan has asked if I could distribute to all members in Aberdeenshire Ladies County to help spread the word and support his new venture.
Entry for the first event at Royal Dornoch on 17/18th April will open on Wednesday 27th March.
I think this is a great opportunity and I hope to see many of you on The Tour.

County Training 10/03/24
Aberdeenshire County Training got under way Sunday 10th March with the girls braving the weather at Murcar Links Golf Club.
Although it was a cold, windy and wet day, it was a most productive and enjoyable session with Murcar Head Professional Gary Forbes.
Gary gave us all lots to practice and think about.

Sad News
Janette Sneddon Wright (née Robertson) January 1935 - February 2024
It is with great sadness that we share the news of the recent death of Janette Wright (Aboyne).
Our sincere sympathy goes out to all her family.
Janette hailed from Glasgow, representing Lenzie Golf Club in
her early years. After her
marriage she moved to Aboyne and was part of the highly
talented Wright golfing family.
Many will remember her friendly face greeting you in the
professional’s shop at
Aboyne Golf Club where her husband, Innes, was the
Professional.
Janette was a keynote speaker at our ALCGA Centenary Lunch in
2011. She charmed
everyone with her amazing stories from a bygone age when air
travel was in its infancy and
destinations were reached by sea, sometimes taking many
weeks.
She was a most gracious lady, modest, unassuming, popular
with everyone. She will be
greatly missed by us all and remembered with great affection.
Janette had an incredible amateur golfing career, including 3
consecutive victories in the Scottish Ladies’ Championship from 1959-1961.
We have highlighted some of her fabulous achievements below
