Sheena Wood Rosebowl Final 2024

The final of the Sheena Wood Rosebowl was played yesterday at Portlethen Golf Club between Kirsty Craig (Kemnay) and Susie Macleod (Aberdeen Ladies).

Great golf was played by the two finalists in blustery conditions. Kirsty was 3 up after nine holes, but Susie fought back with 2 birdies and an eagle, squaring the game after 16 holes. It could have gone either way but Kirsty managed to close out the match at the 18th hole, winning by 1 hole.

Congratulations to Kirsty on winning the Rosebowl.

Thank you to Portlethen Golf Club for giving us courtesy of  their lovely course for the match.

Tri-Am Stonehaven Golf Club 13 September 2024

Our final event, the County Tri-Am at Stonehaven Golf Club was a great success with 72 ladies taking part. The weather was absolutely glorious, which certainly showcased the spectacular views to be had from the course on the way round and I believe the dolphins showed up to add extra entertainment to the day.

In first place, with a runaway score of 94 points were Stonehaven Golf Club team Jan Bradford, Wilma Lawrence and Yvonne Scott. This fantastic score was helped by a superb Hole in One by Jan at the 7th hole. Many congratulations from Aberdeenshire County to Jan.

In second place, with a good score of 86 points, came another Stonehaven Golf Club team, Fiona Currie, Eleanor Hughes and Rose Riddell.

In third place, with 84 points, on a last 6 hold count back,  came the team of Rae Topping, Joyce Wood and Christine Ritchie from Royal Tarlair Golf Club.

In fourth place also on 84 points, came the team of Rachel Smith, Lorna Johnson and Liz Barrack, from Meldrum House Golf Club.

Congratulations to all the prize winners.

ALCGA Tri-Am Stonehaven Golf Club 13/09/24

We are delighted to say we have had a very good entry for our final event of the year the Tri-Am.

With this in mind, Stonehaven Golf Club have asked where possible if we could car share due to parking limitations.

They also advise they have had a breakdown with the gas for the club kitchen, so on Friday there will be sandwiches, soup, salad bowls, scones, tray bakes, tea and coffee. Unfortunately there will be no bacon rolls etc. available. They apologise for this but it is outwith their control.

Good luck to all taking part, have a great day.

Home Internationals Murcar Links 2024

Murcar Links are this week hosting the 2024 Womens and Mens Home Internationals, with elite amateurs from our 4 nations competing and demonstrating an exceptionally high quality of golf right here on our doorstep.  There is an overall team trophy, plus a Womens and Mens trophy up for grabs, and the Scottish ladies team, which includes Jasmine Mckintosh and Carmen Griffiths, is well placed going into the final day of play.

Scotland play Wales tomorrow with the foursomes kicking off at 0730 and the singles following thereafter, with Ireland playing England from 9am.  Spectators are welcome.

The team standings are as follow:

                                 Overall                        Ladies

Ireland                     29                                10.5

England                   25                                10

Scotland                  18                                 9

Wales                      12                                 6.5

Lyon Inter-Club Foursomes Peterhead Golf Club 2024

Peterhead Golf Club, one of the founder members of Aberdeenshire Ladies County Golf Association was the venue for this years’ Lyon Inter-Club Double Foursomes.

Peterhead, famously windy –certainly was super windy, but also warm and sunny, which showcased how scenic the course really is.

It proved a great match-play course and was a good test of golf. All the teams who played enjoyed the challenge and the matches were all played in a fine sporting manner

The semi-finals were both very close indeed.

Aberdeen Ladies 1 beat a very strong team from Cruden Bay by just 1 hole. In the other semi-final Duff House Royal 1 beat a tough team from Murcar Links also by 1 hole, setting up what promised to be a great final.

The final was played in testing conditions as the wind again rose to gale force. The games were  nip and tuck until the last few very tricky holes when Aberdeen Ladies 1 managed to get their noses ahead and pip Duff House Royal 1 to the post.

Duff House Royal therefore retain the Godsman Quaich runner up trophy which they won last year. I am sure they will go one better in the very near future.

Congratulations go to Aberdeen Ladies 1 winners of the Lyon Foursomes Trophy.

Thanks to all the players who came and took part and to all the supporters and caddies. Thanks also to Sheila and Linda for organising and President Ellie for starting us off.

I must thank Peterhead Golf club for hosting the event, their greenkeeping staff for the magnificent condition of the course and to their bar and catering staff for being so accommodating.

Pictured below are the winners, runners up and semi-finalists.
