COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP, PORTLETHEN
Another County Championship has reached its conclusion.
Firstly I must thank Portlethen Golf Club for their generosity in allowing us to hold our championship on their course. Everyone at the club was extremely helpful and made us most welcome. In particular my thanks go to Ian Elmslie, the club captain, who kindly and efficiently refereed the scratch final on Sunday.
Thank you to everyone who took part and congratulations to all those who qualified for the match-play rounds.
All the matches on Sunday - the Handicap Final, both Scratch Semi-Finals and the Scratch Final - were closely contested with all matches going to the 18th hole.
Lesley Watson (Deeside) and Shirley Smith (Murcar Links) won through to the Handicap Final with Shirley winning by 2 holes. Congratulations to Shirley.
The Scratch Championship Semi-Finals were contested by Ruby Watt (Paul Lawrie Golf) v Robyn Fowlie (Murcar Links) and Rachel Polson (Murcar Links) v Sheena Wood (Aberdeen Ladies). Robyn won her match 2&1 while Rachel won by 1 hole.
The Scratch Championship Final between Robyn and Rachel was a match of high quality with Robyn winning by 1 hole. Congratulations to Robyn for winning our championship and the Mrs FK Smith Trophy for the first time.
