Peterhead Golf Club, one of the founder members of
Aberdeenshire Ladies County Golf Association was the venue for this years’ Lyon
Inter-Club Double Foursomes.
Peterhead, famously windy –certainly was super windy, but
also warm and sunny, which showcased how scenic the course really is.
It proved a great match-play course and was a good test of golf.
All the teams who played enjoyed the challenge and the matches were all played
in a fine sporting manner
The semi-finals were both very close indeed.
Aberdeen Ladies 1 beat a very strong team from Cruden Bay by
just 1 hole. In the other semi-final Duff House Royal 1 beat a tough team from
Murcar Links also by 1 hole, setting up what promised to be a great final.
The final was played in testing conditions as the wind again
rose to gale force. The games were nip and tuck until the last few very
tricky holes when Aberdeen Ladies 1 managed to get their noses ahead and pip Duff
House Royal 1 to the post.
Duff House Royal therefore retain the Godsman Quaich runner
up trophy which they won last year. I am sure they will go one better in the
very near future.
Congratulations go to Aberdeen Ladies 1 winners of the Lyon Foursomes
Trophy.
Thanks to all the players who came and took part and to all the supporters and caddies. Thanks also to Sheila and Linda for organising and President Ellie for starting us off.
I must thank Peterhead Golf club for hosting the event, their greenkeeping staff for the magnificent condition of the course and to their bar and catering staff for being so accommodating.
